This phrase matters to me. Our daily lives rest on the accumulated effort of the people who came before us. I am uneasy with the current of thought that forgets this — that reduces things to "new businesses are cool and established ones are not, startups are cool and large companies are not" — and on that basis treats what is old as worth less, or worth erasing.
Having worked in both, my own view is that a business that has been kept running for decades is deeply impressive, and that the accumulated wisdom behind how it works is something to admire. And I am just as struck by the nerve of a startup trying to build all of that from nothing.
Rather than deciding which of the two is better, I want to stay focused on what manufacturing should look like today, and to keep supporting the companies that contribute to society.

Born in Hokkaido, Japan.

Graduated from Tokyo Metropolitan University of Science and Technology (now Tokyo Metropolitan University) and joined Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. As a mechanical designer, worked on more than ten model programmes, including the main mechanism of Yamaha Motor's first three-wheeled motorcycle and, as research lead, a self-balancing motorcycle.

Selected for an entrepreneur development programme run by ICJ and NRI, and worked continuously towards founding a company.

2020
Became CTO as a founding member of MagicShields. Raised funding on the strength of a hand-built prototype, secured a partnership with a listed company within eighteen months, and had volume production running within two years.

Founded Simptech Corp. to support manufacturing across several fronts at once.
